A PPI or DPI metadata label may describe an intended physical scale; it does not add pixels. Production sharpness depends on actual samples, output dimensions, image content, viewing distance, and process requirements.
PPI describes image samples per physical inch. Printer DPI describes output-device marking behavior and is not interchangeable with JPEG pixel count. Changing a 72-PPI metadata label to 300 PPI without resampling does not create detail; resampling can increase the number of pixels but cannot restore information absent from the source.
