XP Opportunities
i.Lesson Completion
Proposed: award lesson XP only after a real JPEG lesson and its completion rule are implemented. No JPEG-specific award is promised by this editorial guide.
A future JPEG lesson should award completion XP only after the learner finishes the required teaching activity and its check. Opening the page, scrolling to the bottom, or revisiting it should not create a second award. The amount should come from the live Learn curriculum's scoring rules; this guide does not assign a number. A learner should be able to retry for understanding without farming repeated completion XP.
ii.Quiz Completion
Proposed: assess actual quiz answers and use the live Learn scoring rules when a JPEG quiz exists.
A future quiz can evaluate format choice, pixel-to-inch arithmetic, transparency, and basic handoff reasoning. Awarding should follow the platform's established scoring and retry rules, including partial credit only when those rules support it. Store the best or accepted result in a way that does not penalize a learner for practicing again. No JPEG quiz award is live merely because the questions are proposed here.
iii.Challenge Completion
Proposed: award challenge XP for a validated interactive task, not merely for opening the page.
An interactive challenge should require a correct observable action, such as fitting a photo to a safe area or correcting a flawed export. Its completion check should use the scenario's actual constraints, not a click on a Finish button alone. Replaying a challenge can remain available for practice without granting unlimited new completion XP. Define the scoring before publishing the activity.
iv.Project Completion
Proposed: use a reviewed project submission or clear automated criteria before awarding project XP.
A project should require a deliverable and assessment, such as two product-specific JPEG derivatives with their size calculations. If automated checks cannot judge composition or proof quality, a reviewer or clearly limited rubric is needed. The learner should know what evidence is required up front. Any XP is contingent on a real published project and the platform's live award rules.
v.Skill Demonstration
Proposed: tie evidence of JPEG preparation to a defined skill assessment; do not infer mastery from page views.
Skill XP should be tied to evidence that the learner can select, prepare, and validate an image for a stated use. A knowledge quiz alone does not prove maker production ability. A suitable assessment can review the source, exported JPEG, template placement, and handoff explanation. Do not grant a machine-capability badge or authorization from this file-format demonstration.
vi.Guide Completion
Reading this reference is not automatically a course-completion event. Define an explicit completion rule before offering XP.
Reading every reference page is useful but should not automatically imply practical mastery. If Goodiee later introduces guide completion XP, define whether it requires a knowledge check, a challenge, or an explicit completion action, and show that rule to learners. Reopening a source page should not generate new XP. At present this section is a curriculum specification, not a live reward.
vii.Learning Path Completion
Use only the live learning path's existing completion rules once JPEG activities are added to it.
A learning path can combine JPEG with raster fundamentals, PNG, color handling, and production-method lessons. The path should define which activities are required and which are optional before awarding completion. The JPEG guide alone cannot declare that the whole path is finished. Use the current Learn progress system once such a path is actually published.
viii.Defined Milestones
Potential milestones: format choice, export validation, product adaptation, controlled proof, and troubleshooting. These are curriculum suggestions, not live achievements.
Possible future milestones are: recognize an appropriate JPEG use, calculate effective output size, create a product-specific export, pass a maker intake simulation, and troubleshoot a failed proof. Each milestone needs an observable criterion and a clear relation to existing Learn badges or XP. Avoid awarding multiple overlapping achievements for the same trivial action.
