Overview 2 of 5
Who uses it and when?
Creators use JPEG for photos, product imagery, mockups, and sometimes continuous-tone production artwork. Makers inspect and process JPEGs when their specific print or engraving workflow accepts them. Buyers encounter JPEGs as product photos and previews.
The same JPEG can have very different purposes at different steps. Identify its role in the order before deciding whether it is sufficient.
| Role | Typical task | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Creator | Prepare photography or approved full-color artwork | Source quality, crop, pixels, profile, product template, export |
| Maker | Receive and interpret production artwork | Actual file properties, process acceptance, output size, proof |
| Supplier | Provide stock or blanks used by a maker | Material and coating specifications, not a JPEG-specific property |
| Buyer | Evaluate a listing image or finished goodie | Photo communicates the product accurately; a mockup is not a physical proof |
