Common Applications

Listing hero images, lifestyle images, photographic references, and proof previews. A maker may also accept it as artwork in a validated full-color workflow.

For a listing, export a web-sized derivative from the master and retain the original capture. For production, make a separate derivative sized to the product. A small listing thumbnail should not be stretched into the production file merely because it looks acceptable on a phone.

A listing can use one or more JPEG photographs to show scale, finish, and context. The hero image should show the product clearly; additional images can show surface texture, an alternate angle, packaging, or a close-up. The images should not imply physical proof where only a digital mockup exists. If a buyer sees a different crop or color from what the maker receives, the listing and production packet must be reconciled before sale or fulfillment.

When the image becomes artwork

  1. 1

    Confirm the product

Name the exact product type and its approved manufacturing route.

    ↓
  2. 2

    Prepare the composition

Use the current template, not the listing image's convenient crop.

    ↓
  3. 3

    Export the derivative

Set pixels, background, and color handling for that output.

    ↓
  4. 4

    Proof the result

Review actual material output where the workflow calls for it.
